Our Investments
The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), a group consisting of nine parents and two students, analyzed priorities and ways to make the most impact. With $1,030,000 to allocate for the 2025-26 school year, the PAC proposed the following investments that were then approved by the PPS Board of Education on May 6, 2025:
High-impact tutoring for students in the elementary grades $660,000
PPS is implementing High Impact Tutoring, aligned with the PPS literacy curriculum and instructional priorities. Despite the success of this program, it was facing cuts for next year but with this investment we were able to nearly double the impact from 26 to 45 elementary schools. Literacy tutors will work with students needing extra support with frequent, consistent tutoring sessions (*3x per week * 30 minutes * 28 weeks per year). Tutors use skill-based interventions and build strong student-tutor relationships. We’re helping young readers take flight!
Math supports for all 7,000 PPS 9th and 10th graders $70,000
Our approach will increase high school students’ success in Algebra, a key determinant of high school graduation. The IXL Digital Platform provides a suite of adaptive digital mathematics support, individualized skill practice, and real-time skill assessments. IXL is completely aligned with the PPS curriculum and meets students where they’re at, providing support and appropriate next-level challenges. It just adds up!
Food Pantries in 20 Community Schools $200,000
PPS surveyed families in Title I K- and /K-8 Schools and learned that access to food is a key priority. Students benefit from good nutrition and it helps them to be successful in school. We’re investing in food pantries. Help us stock the shelves for families!
Growing our Campaign and Expanding Our Impact $100,000
We’re ramping up efforts to raise even more money for our schools. This seed funding will be utilized for marketing and fundraising efforts to engage PPS families and the broader community. The Fund for PPS is looking for Champions! Join us!
